Fishing

boatfishing Things are picking up, there have been a number of snapper caught in the harbour. i have heard of 5 and 8kg fish caught off scorching bay. the puka have started to come back too. fishermans has fired and also the other side of the trench. the tarakihi have been going well off island bay and owhiro bay the gurnard are in good numbers off pencarrow the bass and ling are still out at the trench, bluenose should be on the go when the water is clean. we caught 20 snapper in a session on soft baits last week at cape runaway shorefishing a few good moki have been caught at the big O (south coast), spotty sharks have been anbundant at the spit in palliser bay. kahawai have been on and off around the traps, still plenty of redcod and spiney dogs around. gurnard are starting to move in around the harbour and south coast. castlepoint, otahome and white rock are worth a serious fish now. a few 7 gill sharks have been caught and one or two trevs and warehou.
